The Timber Lodges are made using Western Red Cedar, a highly durable wood which without any wood protection can last up to 60 years! Despite this, Polar Lodges decided a coating was needed to guarantee the durability of the Timber Lodges. They asked Holman Specialist Paints to supply durable, attractive coatings for interior and exterior wood.
For the exterior wood, Holman Specialist Paints recommended applying two coats of Sikkens Cetol WF771.
Cetol WF771 is a super durable translucent self-priming topcoat for exterior timber.
It offers high UV protection, excellent water vapour permeability and fills wood pores to prevent early erosion.

The interior walls of the Twin Timber Cabins were coated with Tikkurila Kiva Lacquer. Kiva by Tikkurila is a water-based, non-yellowing, protective wood lacquer. It is easy to apply and available in matt, semi-matt and gloss finishes. As with all Tikkurila paints and lacquers, Kiva wood lacquer can be tinted to any translucent colour.
Polar Lodges had their Kiva lacquer tinted to one of Holman Specialist Paints unique white wash colours.
The completed Twin Timber Cabins look fantastic and will look great for many, many years!
